Guidelines

Drop-off hours are Monday-Friday, 11am-5pm; Sat-Sun, 11am-2pm

  • All donations must be clean and in usable condition. No repairs should be needed.
  • Gently used clothes must be washed and folded upon drop off.
  • SPY reserves the right to decline items that do not meet our needs or storage capacity.
  • Large donations or bulk items should be coordinated with Development in advance.
  • To receive a donation receipt, please fill out this form. Receipts will be sent within two weeks after the form is completed.

We rely heavily on in-kind donations to keep our youth programs running. Please visit our Amazon Wishlist to see a full list of individual items we're in need of at this time. Donations are automatically shipped to SPY’s Drop-In Center (2471 Lincoln Blvd. Venice, CA 90291).

Always Accepting (Gently Used)
SPY accepts certain pre-owned items in clean, gently-used condition, free of stains, odors, rips, or significant wear. Please view our donation guidelines below to ensure your gently-used gift is able to be accepted. These include:

  • Shoes
  • Mens clothes
  • Women's clothes
  • Blankets (to be washed on site)

Pantry Items
To support our meal programs, we accept unopened, non-perishable food items within their expiration dates. Examples include:

Drinks

  • Water
  • Gatorade
  • Juice Boxes

Microwavable

  • Mac n Cheese
  • Cup of Noodles / Ramen
  • Oatmeal Cups
  • 90 Minute Rice

Individually packed snacks

  • Protein Bars
  • Trail Mix
  • Beef Jerky
  • Fruit Snacks

Accepting Pending Inventory Review
Due to storage and program needs, certain donations may require prior approval before acceptance. Donors should contact [email protected] before donating:

  • Used reusable water bottles
  • Bicycles (must be new or gently used. Tires need to be inflated. Chain should not be rusty. The brakes must work.)
  • Art supplies
  • Cooking supplies (bowls, utensils, etc)
  • TV’s
  • Furniture 
  • Exercise equipment

Items We Cannot Accept
To ensure safety, hygiene, and efficient resource allocation, we cannot accept:

  • Used mattresses or pillows
  • Electric scooters
  • Used machinery/electronics
  • Used baby items
  • Used car seats

Donation Drives

Personal Care Kit:

Women's:

  • Bikini briefs multipack (size small or large)
  • Body wipes
  • Deodorant
  • Chapstick multipack
  • Travel size lotion

Men's:

  • Boxer brief multipack (size medium or XL)
  • Body wipes
  • Deodorant

  • Travel size lotion

Snack Pack (non-perishable):

In a Gallon Ziplock Bag: 

  • (2) Granola / Protein Bar
  • (2) Salty Snack (goldfish, cheese its, chips)
  • (2) Fruit Snack (fruit snack, dehydrated fruit) 
  • (1) Sweet Snack (cookies, candy)
  • (1) 8 oz water bottle
  • Optional: Feel free to include a handwritten note or decoration on the bag. Please do not include religious messaging or inappropriate language.

Outreach Kits:

If you are interested in assembling kits that support our daily programming, please include the items below:

    • (1) Full size bottle of sunscreen
    • (1) Full size bottle of hand sanitizer
    • (1) Refillable water bottle

When and where can I drop off donated items?

  • Does SPY accept furniture donations?

  • On some occasions, we may need furniture donations. Please contact [email protected] with photos, measurements, quantity and other details about the items you’re offering.
  • Please note, we do not accept used bedding.
  • What if I want a receipt for my donation?

    Please fill out SPY's In-Kind Donation Form if you’d like to receive an acknowledgment letter.

    Is there a donation limit?

    If you plan on dropping off a donation larger than five boxes, you must contact us at [email protected] to schedule.

    Can I ship a donation to SPY?

    Yes! You can ship a donation to SPY. Please contact us ahead of time to confirm we are in need of the item(s) you want to donate and to make sure we can receive the quantity you plan on donating. Please email us at [email protected]
