Sarah Boehmke

Director of Empowerment Programs

Inspired by a deeply rooted belief in the healing power of art, Sarah has spent her professional career combining her love for creating artistic experiences for others and her calling to work in human services. Originally from the East Coast, she has lived in the Venice area since 2009. Sarah has worked in the arts creating workshops, art shows, and arts programming for over 10 years. In addition, her experience working as a teacher, case manager and program manager at homeless service organizations such as Gramercy Housing Group, PATH and now SPY, have provided first hand experience of the healing and community building power of arts programming in under-resourced communities. Sarah began as a volunteer arts and meditation facilitator at SPY in 2016 and has spent the last 5 years building and managing the Healing Arts Program and now serves as the Director of Empowerment Programs.

Sarah has served on 3 non-profit boards including Survivors’ Truths and currently Artwalk, Inc. and Venice-Mar Vista Arts Coalition. Sarah has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Arts, with a minor in Art History from Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in Connecticut and is a Certified Social Emotional Arts Facilitator through UCLA’s Arts and Healing Program.
