October 2026 SPY Report

Hi Friend,

As we enter autumn, we have so much to be grateful for from our summer months at SPY!

  • A housing success

  • A new volunteer opportunity

  • Fun at housing sites

  • Summer fundraiser results

We are so excited about all the wonderful things this season brought. Read on to feel that summer warmth!

A Pathway Home ๐Ÿ  September

5 SPY youth exited to permanent housing in September!

The day Sky came to SPY, she knew exactly what she wanted: an apartment of her own.

Through her time at SPY, Sky was connected to various resources and had taken residence at our Meadow at Melrose housing site. Once Sky was connected to our housing site and a dedicated case manager, she began to work tirelessly to secure and excel at her job. Sky has shown resilience, taken initiative, and done everything possible to work toward a future sheโ€™s always dreamed of. Now, Sky has made her dreams come true, and has her own studio apartment.

Congratulations, Sky, and welcome home!

Chef for a Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ

Bring your friends, family, or coworkers together for a meaningful hands-on volunteer experience! With SPYโ€™s new Chef for a Day opportunity, groups of 7-10 volunteers can work together to prepare a homemade meal for young people experiencing homelessness.

Join us to connect over cooking, give back to your community, and make a direct impact on the young people SPY serves.

Ready to get cooking? A $500 donation covers the cost of the experience and meal ingredients. Gather your group and join us in making a difference, one meal at a time!

All meals will be prepared at Culver City Presbyterian Church, an off-site certified kitchen. We are grateful for their partnership and collaboration!

Arts and Crafts Workshops ๐ŸŽจ

Our members at the Meadow at Melrose housing site enjoyed an arts and crafts day making bracelets and necklaces. Healing Arts workshops provide opportunities for self-expression, creativity, and community building, which are all core components contributing to our social and mental health.

If youโ€™re interested in leading a workshop or donating items, reach out to give@safeplaceforyouth.org ๐Ÿ’™

Building Hope at Home ๐Ÿ’™

You did it! Our Building Hope at Home campaign surpassed its $10,000 goal this season!

Your dedication to supporting our youth is inspiring. Because of you, we are able to provide youth with welcoming homes, where they can feel safe, find community, and have the support they need to move toward greater independence.

From all of us at SPY and the young people who call our housing sites home: THANK YOU!

Your generosity has helped make safe housing possible and weโ€™re so grateful to have you with us as we continue this work.
