Welcome to our annual Evening of Inspiration Gala!

Fifteen years ago, Safe Place for Youth began as a small, grassroots effort to provide essential resources to young people experiencing homelessness on the streets of Venice. Today, we are providing specialized care to over 1,000 youth each year, across 9 sites, countywide.

Hosted at a stunning private residence in Beverly Hills, this will be a powerful night of youth voices, milestone celebration, and connection with community leaders committed to ending youth homelessness.

Welcome to our annual Evening of Inspiration Gala!

A night of powerful youth performances, curated cocktails and appetizers, and a breathtaking view of the Los Angeles skyline. Celebrate the young people and community members who inspire us all year long.

Seven days a week, young people can access our continuum of services in a safe, welcoming space in Venice, CA. At the Drop-In Center, SPY provides basic survival needs of food, water, clothing, and other survival essentials.

Additional services are available to help young people improve their physical and emotional wellbeing, and develop meaningful relationships with peers, staff, and the community.

SPY’s on-site Community Garden provides hands-on job training, workshops, and nutrition education in a healing environment. Through SPY’s paid internship program, youth gain work experience in urban agriculture, culinary arts, merchandising, and event coordination while distributing organic produce to our Drop-In Center and housing sites. Interns produce and market garden-based goods, such as herbal teas, turmeric-dyed textiles, and flower bouquets, while co-leading community workshops and public events that promote food equity and neighborhood beautification.

The Community Garden allows youth to build confidence, leadership skills, and professional assets that support long-term housing and employment stability.

When SPY first started there were no housing resources for young people on the Westside. Today, we house 100 youth every night across five sites in West LA.  In 2011, SPY was a small group of volunteers handing out socks on the Venice Boardwalk. In 2021, we helped 1,000 young people by providing housing, employment support, counseling, mentorship, healing arts, and meals. But there are still 4,700 unhoused youth in LA who need our help.
