This year we’ve worked relentlessly to support and empower LA’s unhoused youth. From advocating for youth-centered funding, to extending service hours, to expanding our housing and supportive programs. Through it all, we’ve pushed for lasting, systemic change that gives young people real opportunities to thrive. Now, we’re calling on you to stand with us. 16 SPY youth exited to permanent housing in October!
Congratulations to SPY member Cyjea’s massive milestone: moving into her new permanent home!
For the past year, Cyjea has been participating in our Host Homes program, where she was matched with a caring host while simultaneously supported by SPY programming. Through dedication, patience, and hard work, she built a foundation for lasting stability and independence.
We want to give a huge shoutout to the caring community members who opened their home to Cyjea. Her journey is a reminder of the success that’s possible when young people are provided care, community, resources, and compassion that cater toward their goals.
Gift wrapping with spy!
SPY provides essential items all year round. But during the holiday season, we want to provide more than necessities. This season, you have the power to brighten a young person’s holiday season by donating the most requested items from our youth’s wishlist. Items like headphones, blankets, speakers, and portable chargers allow our youth to find comfort any time, anywhere.
Join us in our preparation to spread holiday joy to the youth in our community! Items purchased through SPY's wishlist will be sent directly to us. When you arrive, we'll have all the materials and gifts ready for you to help wrap!
Can’t make it? No problem, we will have staff wrap your gift for you!
Use Your Voice In Compton on Nov 18th
Do you have any plans on November 18th? If you live near Compton and want to help support our youth, this is for you!
We need your support asking LACASHA (Los Angeles County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency) to dedicate funds to youth specific programming to prevent them from falling into homelessness. As of today, there are no dedicated youth-specific dollars set aside with LACAHSA, one of the newest and largest providers of homelessness prevention funding.
We would love for you to join us at City Council meetings and provide public comment that emphasizes the importance of youth programming. Members of City Councils from across LA make up the The LACAHSA Board, and we can connect with them best in their cities! Your voice has the power to enact the most change.
