Dear Friend,
As the weather cools and the season shifts, the needs of our youth do too. Our Drop-In Center’s most urgent need right now is men’s clothing of all kinds and sizes. We’d also like you to join us in celebrating our youth’s housing successes. Read on to find info about the first of our winter events. Lastly, we are asking for your attendance at a City Council meeting near you – this month in Santa Clarita. Find out how you can use your voice to create lasting change for youth experiencing homelessness. Thank you for showing up for our community every season.
Urgent need: Men’s Clothes
Got an extra sweater or pair of sweats tucked away? We’d love to give it a new life!
As the weather cools, we are in urgent need of warm men’s clothing for our youth. Every pair of jeans, every hoodie, every shirt you share is a hug of comfort for someone braving the cold. Thank you for keeping our community warm this winter and for being the heart behind it all!
All clothing donations must be washed, folded, and in excellent condition (free of stains, holes, or tears).

9 SPY youth exited to permanent housing in September!
When Kurtis exited the foster care system at 18, he suddenly had to navigate adulthood on his own. Without a stable place to live and while managing his mental health, accessing permanent housing wasn’t easy. Thankfully, Kurtis never stopped trying. He consistently showed up and put trust in his case managers.
We are so proud to say that Kurtis has found his pathway home!

For many of us Angelenos, the winter is a respite from the seemingly endless summer, allowing us to relish the colder days. However, for our street-based youth, the winter brings on many new challenges and without the warmth they need, it’s hard to focus on much else.
That’s why every year we host a coat drive and giveaway to ensure no youth has to endure the winter unprepared.
It's simple: bring a new or like-new coat to donate to Firestone Walker in Venice, CA and the SPY team will thank you with a complimentary beer. There’s nothing better than giving to a good cause, enjoying a delicious beverage, and meeting other likeminded, caring community members.
Use your voice in santa clarita on oct 28th
Do you have any plans on October 28th? If you live near Santa Clarita and want to help support our youth, this is for you!
We need your support asking LACASHA (Los Angeles County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency) to dedicate funds to youth specific programming to prevent them from falling into homelessness. As of today, there are no dedicated youth-specific dollars set aside with LACAHSA, one of the newest and largest providers of homelessness prevention funding.
We would love for you to join us at City Council meetings and provide public comment that emphasizes the importance of youth programming. Members of City Councils from across LA make up the The LACAHSA Board, and we can connect with them best in their cities! Your voice has the power to enact the most change.
