It’s finally summer! We’re excited to jump into the warm weather with upcoming events, youth housing successes, and a recap of our best Evening of Inspiration yet.

SPY’s junior advisory board, NextGen, is hosting their event of the summer on Friday, June 26th at 5:30pm at The Penmar in Venice! The Penmar’s Sunset Sessions are one of the most popular events in West LA with live music, picnics, and a perfect place to enjoy golden hour.
By purchasing a VIP ticket, you’ll skip the line and receive an exclusive SPY swag bag while supporting our youths’ journeys to housing stability. Then, come hang out with us at our booth where we’ll have social enterprise products and fun activities!

3 SPY youth exited to permanent housing in May!
Congratulations to SPY member Kumiko for moving into her own apartment and graduating college!
SPY connected Kumiko to case management, budgeting guidance, rental application support, and housing referrals. Additionally, SPY provided Kumiko with education and employment services, helping Kumiko complete school and pass the state exam to become a licensed nurse. Now, Kumiko is able to confidently support herself in her own apartment, and has the stability to focus on her career.

Our 2026 Evening of Inspiration Recap
On May 30, SPY hosted our 15-Year Anniversary Evening of Inspiration! This was our most successful gala yet, breaking records and raising over $250,000 for SPY’s wraparound services, including Drop-In Center resources, case management, Education and Employment, Healing Arts, and most importantly, housing.
The evening included youth performances and speakers, remarks from LA County Supervisors Holly Mitchell and Lindsey P. Horvath, and honoree awards for Timothy P. Whalen and Snap Inc., Snap Foundation, and the Spiegel Family Fund.
We’re so grateful to have celebrated 15 years of SPY with you – our sponsors, Board Members, supporters, and staff. Because of you, SPY has grown from a small group of volunteers to an independent nonprofit changing the lives of over 1,200 youth each year. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this incredible event!
